My creations are currently shown at Tincal Lab gallery as part of the Tincal Lab Challenge 2017 : Jewellery and Music.
For this years challenge, with main objective to show the quality and diversity of contemporary jewellery, Tincal Lab invited 39 jewellery artists from 18 countries to create pieces on the theme of Jewellery and Music.

About my process.
Attracted by the translation of music into visual form, Julie researched the correlation between contemporary compositions and the depiction of music outside the realm of traditional music notation.
Concentrating on scores-as-art of Modern Minimalists composers such as Cage, Cardew, Stockhausen and Xenakis, Julie fixed her attention on their compositional techniques, characterised by the repetition of musical phrases, steady pulse, gradual transformation, and non-narrative form.
To explore the effect of this repetitive structure on the listener, she selected specific compositions and looped a single piece of music continuously during the making of each jewellery work to induce a hypnotic state in herself, allowing the music to change her, propel her work elsewhere and ultimately infuse her creations with the essence of the musical pieces.
