Necklaces & Pendants

These are the necklaces & pendants created by Julie Bégin, consisting of collection and single edition pieces made from precious metals, reclaimed wood, gems and more unusual materials.

She was shortlisted for One Of A Kind in 2017, Toronto’s flagship craft event, and was also invited to Autor, an art jewelry fair in Bucharest, in 2020. She is a recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. A self-taught artist, she tamed precious metals work at the École de Joaillerie de Montréal from 2013 to 2016 and honed her skills in workshops with leading figures in art jewellery, both in Montreal and in Europe. Julie lives and works in Montreal.

Inspired by systems theory and in particular, the notion of interdependence, the relationship between humans and their environment is at the center of Julie Bégin’s creation. Sober and refined, his work consists of single edition pieces and limited series combining precious metals and charred wood. Her practice of fine jewelry revolves around a search for clarity and simplicity of form. It aims to eliminate any superfluous detail to offer a frank and direct representation of the materials. Its artistic methodology involves research, rigorous questioning and criticism of tradition, beauty and preciousness.
